Dj K-Sets is a project of compilation of the popular music from The Middle East and other regions culturally connected with Mesopotamia.

The live mixtapes are performed with adapted car-radios and original cassettes of Turkish, Kurdish, Persian, Arabic, Armenian, Jewish and Assyrian Pop singers.

The concept calls to dance with a dystopian trip to the spirit of the human civilization.

My name is Manuel Sánchez Laliga (1979 Cartagena, Spain) and I'm developer and manager of this project.

In 2001, during my Fine Arts studies in the school of Cuenca, I started playing in house parties Northern Africa tapes purchased in the working-class neighborhoods of my country.

In 2005 I had an Erasmus stay in Turkey where I collected hundreds of Turkish and Kurdish cassettes. Also I travelled by bus from Istanbul to Tehran looking for Persian music. After I contacted the Iranian community of Los Angeles and I ordered many Persian releases banned in Iran.

In 2010 I visited Lebanon and Syria to continue with the work of compilation digging also in the MP3 and VCD local markets.

Sessions were booked by Occii, Museo Reina Sofía, Nuits Sonores, Heart Of Gold Heart Of Glass, Bzar Festival, Milhoes De Festa, ... , and reported by Arte TV, Vice France, Free Lab Radio, Le Mellotron, The Guardian, ...

From the beginning of this project many friends collaborated with my activity donating more and more tapes, eternal thanks to all of them :)
